The Department has been conducting its own sociological research regularly since 2013. The results are published on the Institute’s website and official telegram channel, as well as replicated in many major media outlets and messengers.
The Department’s supervisor and interviewing network includes more than 1,000 people in 20 regions of the country. The data of sociological research are the basis of the Institute’s work.
Tasks of our department:
Conducting comprehensive sociological research on the most relevant topics;
Monitoring the socio-political situation based on social well-being indices;
Conducting a comprehensive sociological study “National Corruption Perception Index among the population and entrepreneurs”;
Studying the system of value orientations;
Developing a methodology and conducting a reputational audit of the party and its branches;
Conducting expert surveys on the most pressing issues of the country’s development.
Based on the problematic situation, both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methodologies are applied. This includes a mass survey, expert survey, telephone interviews, focus groups, and online research.

Mussina Almagul
Head of DepartmentPhD in Sociology, member of the regional Editorial Board of the journal of the International Sociological Association Global Dialogue since 2015, Vice-President of the Forum of Young Sociologists of Kazakhstan for 2014-2017.
He has received grants under the Atlas international programs of the Foundation for the Humanities (FMSH) and the French Institute for Central Asian Studies (IFEAC), the RESET Institute for the Open Society for Higher Education Support (HESP), and the CARTI Institute for the Open Society for Higher Education Support in Central Asia (OSI, Central Asian Research and Training Initiatives program). She has studied at Goldsmiths University of London, the University of California at Santa Barbara, and the Institute for the Study of India and the Iranian World at the French Academy of Sciences.
Translator of textbooks “The Essential of Statistics”, “Ethnography” into Kazakh within the framework of the project “New humanitarian knowledge. 100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language”, author of the courses “Compilation of academic writing in social sciences”, “Critical thinking: academic reading in sociology”, “Collection and analysis of qualitative data in sociology”.
Research interests: electoral sociology, urban sociology, data interpretation and analysis in social sciences.
She was awarded the state Medal “Yeren yenbegi ushin”, as well as letters of thanks from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev.
Azamat Akatayev

Owns the data analysis tools in the SPSS statistical program. Completed advanced training courses – data analytics on Skillbox databases, Academica_courses.
He has experience in electoral campaigns in the Presidential elections (2019, 2022) and parliamentary elections (2021, 2023).
He is the author of a number of articles in the republican media and scientific publications.
Research interests: electoral sociology, data analysis, big data.
He was awarded letters of appreciation from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.K.Tokayev, and the badge “Belsendi kyzmeti ushin” (2022).
Akbota Mamazhanova
Chief expertSociologist, Lawyer, Master of Economics, Master of Social Sciences. He is the author of a number of articles in the republican media and scientific publications.
He has experience in information and project activities, as well as in public service. She worked in various analytical centers of the country. He has experience working in electoral campaigns in the Presidential elections (2019, 2022) and parliamentary elections (2016, 2021, 2023).
Research interests: electoral sociology, effectiveness of interaction of subjects of the process depending on motivation.
She was awarded letters of appreciation from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, K.K.Tokayev.
